FAB Bursary Goes To Milverton Student
Dec. 30, 2010
She didn’t start out as a farm girl – but she’s definitely got the passion for the industry now. And that passion has been recognized by the CKNX Radio Farm Advisory Board. The board has awarded Ashley with the 2010 FAB Bursary of 1 thousand dollars.
Ashley lives with her parents in Milverton. Scrapbooking was one of her first 4-H clubs. Then she graduated to a calf club. And, as she puts it, her interest in and passion for agriculture has grown since that time.
Ashley has been the Milverton Fall Fair Ambassador, Top 4-H Perth County Dairy member and has represented Perth County 4-H at the Royal Winter Fair for five consecutive years. She’s also a Youth Director on the 4-H Ontario Board of Directors and has spent some time in Switzerland learning about agriculture there.
Right now she’s in an undergrad program at the University of Guelph with a major in Animal Science.
The 1 thousand dollar CKNX Radio Farm Advisory Board FAB Bursary is awarded annually to a student from Midwestern Ontario entering the second year of a post-secondary, agriculture-related program. The Bursary recognizes community involvement, contributions to agriculture and an interest in and desire to be part of the provincial agriculture industry.
The CKNX Radio Farm Advisory Board includes representation from across Midwestern Ontario and from across the agriculture and agribusiness spectrum. It administers both the FAB Bursary program and the annual FAB Award program. Nominations for the FAB Award are now open, with a February 28th, 2011 deadline. The Board also provides feedback and input to CKNX Radio in the station’s ongoing efforts to provide a strong service to the agriculture and agri-business community in Midwestern Ontario.
