Food security should be moved up the priority list in Canada, especially in light of the damage Monsanto and other agri-corps are doing to the world's food supply with transgenic seeds and chemical based farming.

I respectfully disagree. There is a wealth of income available from the private sector of horse owners which has sustained agricultural interests far more reliably, stably, and more humanely, over the decades than the horse racing industry. We are your best customers, please don't forget that.

Sorry Paul we know you are a leaseholder, not a city resident. The majority of OFA members do not approve of the wind turbine development. The last pole on the OFA website had approximately 93% of respondents in favour of the OFA policy to suspend wind turbine development.
There has been no research provided by the proponents or MOE to show 550 metre setbacks are safe from homes.

I would prefer to know that the OFA rejects the unworkable and undemocratic GEA entirely. But, apart from that omission, it is reassuring to read the first sane and realistic summary of the bully-boy tactics imposed on rural Ontarians employed by Prem McGuinty still evidently under the control of puppet-master George Smitherman.

Paul W. You have no idea what you are talking about. Check out this pig farmer's experience with GMO corn in Iowa. http://vimeo.com/20237421

He lost his farm as the corn he was feeding them made 80% of his pig infertile. He switched feed in 2000 and that's when it all started. He isn't the only one with these troubles.

If it's making pigs infertile, what is it doing to us? GMO has been shown to cause low birth weights, small brain and testicle size, and infertility in lab rats.

GMO's do cause some to have allergic reactions. We have an epidemic of allergies in this country with one child in every 10 being allergic to some kind of food. It's not an aging population. It's affecting the young too.

This is an article released in September by Discover Magazine (a scientific publication) detailing how genes from foods can implant in liver cells and embed indo the RNA of our cells. If you need scientific proof that this food has the ability to change us, here it is.

There is a hoax alright and it comes from these gloom & doomers, the book writers, the so-called environmentalists always searching for something to crusade against.GMO foods have been around for close to 50 years and 50 years of testing, its not something new.Everyone of those health risks Smith talks about are associated with a ageing population and simply by eating non-GMO foods won't cure any of them!

l've heard of a number of complaints regarding the Turbines, from health problems to land devaluation to neighbours quarreling over the damn things but l've never heard of "the view" being high on that list.Sounds like something a city resident would think offends us rural folks most.

Finally, some common sense to gain common ground!!!!

Maybe a little too late for some with turbines already in the background, however this would help future farmers preserve land from being destroyed and abandoned to industrial wind monstrosities!!

Paul Gibbings, these issues HAVE NOT been addressed! a 400ft spinning structure DOES NOT belong in the backyards of the peaceful, quaint rural countryside!
